THE TREASURES IN SISTERHOOD
by Agnès Thévenin - Intuitive Massage Therapist
The richness to be found in the silent space within is a very precious one, I trust we all agree on the many benefits of meditation and the different forms it may take. There are also precious treasures to be found in the interaction with others. More so when that exchange is expressed mindfully and from the heart.
A few months before she died, American humourist Emily Levine said “My life has certainly been enriched by other people. Reality comes into being through an interaction”
How rich is my reality? When do I feel alive? When taking time for myself certainly, but also sharing time with those dear to me.
How often do we have the chance or take the time to experience a quality interaction with our self and our loved ones? Honouring who we are is a gift that we seldom give ourselves and I found that at times a group united with purpose enhance that unique flame of the self. I can look at my image in a mirror and only see a reflection of myself that is different than others see when looking at me. That is to say that self-exploration and self-reflection aren’t easy to achieve. How really am I, how do I judge myself or what is my sense of self ? How do I accept myself; how do I recognise my qualities, how do I accept my reality? Is my view all distorted?Women have always been gathering in circles creating opportunities to give and receive, explore and energise together and ultimately grow and empower.
The dynamic of a group builds a powerful strength and creates a bonding quality that helps everyone in relation to the self and therefore to others. Sharing, reflecting on challenges, struggles and joys, stresses, the ups and the downs, the successes or the daily little things… All Interaction based on sharing experience deepen the human relation and has a therapeutic value to each individual of the group.
Women need a space where women can truly share from heart to heart, exploring what is deep inside. Women need a safe container made in the texture of sisterhood to remember who they are, a circle for women to connect, inspire and be inspired.
