What is Self Love? by Ally Jamieson

Self-love has often been seen in the past as a moral flaw, akin to vanity and selfishness.
But in today’s world the expression “self love” is becoming more of a widely accepted term in regards to one's own happiness.
Actions that support our physical, psychological, and spiritual growth and wellbeing.

Jennifer Weinberg from the Chopra Centre shares with us that “Self-love allows you to accept your weaknesses along with your strengths,
And to have compassion for yourself as you strive to find personal meaning and fulfilment.
You might think of your thoughts as reflections of the outside world; but, you’re actually creating your life with your thoughts.
It can be challenging to shift from self-judgment and negativity to compassion and positivity.
Fortunately, you can change your body and brain with the thoughts you think, and the words you speak.
Self-love builds out of the thoughts and actions that you choose.
This, in turn, will support you emotionally, psychologically, physically, and spiritually.
Self-love is a dynamic experience that expands and moves with you as you change, experience life, and grow.”

How can You assist your Self Love to grow?
Today living in our fast paced century can be stressful. Stress is difficult to avoid.  It is an integral part of modern life.  The days when the stress syndrome was associated only with high-powered business executives are long gone.  Today young children, teenagers, women, men, and the elderly are all subject to varying degrees of stress.  The speed of change and modern technology can contribute to malfunctions in the body and psyche.
The barrage of Stressors is unrelenting - traffic, television, internet, social media, study commitments, job pressure, Family problems, wars, famines, disease, Environmental problems, electronic smog (computers & mobile phones) Financial problems, global problems, pollution ... the list is endless.

Taking the time to “disconnect” from these stressors is an important step towards “self love”
Allowing yourself the opportunity to slow down, release physical aches and pains and to quieten the mind and listen to the voice within.

“Subtle yet powerful, Reflexology is becoming increasingly popular in the world of complementary therapies.”

One of the most important benefits of Reflexology is its efficacy in reducing stress.  Approximately 75% of disorders can be related to stress, anxiety and nerve tension.  Reflexology works with the help of the nervous system; it encourages the body to relax, this improved the delivery of oxygen to all the bodies’ functions thus allowing the body an opportunity to "calm down".

Reflexology is based on the principle that certain parts of the body reflect the whole.
Reflex points, which relate to all parts of the body, can be found in the feet, hands, face and ears. These points respond to pressure, stimulating the body's own natural healing process.
The body starts progressively clearing blockages, re-establishing energy flows and restoring balance, resulting in better health.  © 2013 Reflexology Association of Australia
